Nature and stuff

If all goes well and the weather behaves....we are going hiking saturday at Cheaha State park with our dogs. Oscar has never been any farther than around our block, so rocks and sticks and squirrels and uneven terrain will be new for him. Jon told me that I coulndn't carry him if he stopped walking....he only weighs 7 pounds so it wouldn't be hard....but last year when we took Charlie he gave up towards the end and I carried him and people thought it was soooo cute....he's bigger this year, but I think he'll do fine. he likes being outside. I reallly want to get up EARLY and get there as the sun is coming up...it's the highest point in alabama so the leaves will be pretty and there wont be all that midmorning haze that ruins photographs. But anyone that knows us knows that we are not morning people. I will have to prepare everything the night before so we can leave in a timely matter. I'll have to make us breakfast and pack a lunch and all that...get the dog's food and poop bags and water and leashes together....it's going to be cold so I bought them little sweaters, they are going to be a-dor-a-ble. Before you say anything I have read two articles from published reputible sources saying that if you are going to be out in the cold, you may want to get a little sweater or shirt for your short-haired dog. Oscar is naturally short haired and Charlie's mid-summer shave is growing, but is still short. Remember people: I do not have human children. These are my babies, and they know it. I also hope that Jon will be in the mood to go to DeSoto Caverns on sunday...it's about as far away from us as Rome...maybe a little farther, but I hear it's very pretty. They have a lot of waterfalls and trails. I LOOOOOOVE being outdoors this time of year and Jon and I rarely have coordinating off weekends, so I want to take full advantage of it.
